This benefits participating UAH and high school students in two ways. First, it provides Mechanical Engineering and Technical Editing students with experience working in teams as they learn, design, and develop a successful contest. Second, the contest they design for high school students will motivate hands-on, self-discovery of aerospace technology. Evidence shows that in the early high school years many students lose interest in extracurricular activities related to science or technology. The Ultimate Egg Drop is a means of reaching out to high school students and encouraging their participation in projects that are educational and fun. The completed contest design will be presented to the ASGC for consideration as part of a larger national competition.
